Leigh-on Sea SC Brass Monkey Trophy race on Boxing Day

Want to go sailing on Boxing Day? The Leigh-on Sea SC Brass Monkey Trophy race will take place on Boxing Day with an all-in start at 11:15.

Entry is open to all recognised dinghies, results will be taken using average corrected lap times to give everyone roughly the same time on the water.

Entry fee £10 per boat, briefing at about 10:15 - drinks and food after racing free for all racers.

A passage race made this feel almost like 'offshore' racing Saturday RO Bugs Beechy used the club start line and marks for both Saturday races with a beat up the shoreline against the flood then a reach out to Ray Gut and a tight reach back to the line with two laps for each race. Including sunset drinks and burgers on the club balcony Arriving at the club early for opening up I found three visitors already waiting at the gate keen to rig their boats, despite that it was about 6 hours to high tide and 4 hours before the mud would be covered and ready for sailing. 22 beautiful boats greeted with blue skies for the event 22 entries for this year's Vintage Championship hosted at Leigh on Sea Sailing Club were greeted with blue skies, sunshine again.
