Three clubs in the East Midlands are running their mini series this year. The series attracted eighty two boats last year and nine different clubs took part at the three venues round the East Midlands.

The series was set up to provide some winter racing and friendly inter club competition, as such club members from each club compete free of charge, and prizes are minimal. The racing is competitive, enjoyable and well run. Each venue will try and get five handicap races in over the two days.

The event starts next weekend (18/19th Jan) at Notts County Sailing Club with The County Cooler details at ncsc.org.uk/open-meeetings and the forecast conditions look good, average temperatures and light to moderate breeze. The club is situated 12 miles east of Nottingham, not far off the A!.

The second event is at Ogston Sailing Club, The Woolley Jumper takes place on the 8/9th February. Ogston is situated near Clay Cross (jnct 29 - M1) more information at www.ogstonsc.org/open-meetings.html.

The final event is on 22nd and 23rd February at Staunton Harold Sailing Club, the Staunton Blaster provides excellent racing on their water near Melbourne, Derbyshire centrally placed in the Midlands region. More information at shsc.org.uk/event/staunton-blaster-open-event.

Last year Grahame Newton and Rachael Rhodes from Staunton won in a Scorpion, followed by Ogston's Martin Honner in a Solo and Northampton's Andy McKee in a Scorpion. So now is your chance to get on the leader board. At all the events you can enter on the day, there is a fee for those not members of the three clubs.

All the clubs look forward to welcoming you on the day.
