Docking and anchoring for women by women

This course will cover theoretical and practical considerations for docking and anchoring your vessel. A full keel vessel will also be available for students to learn and practice line handling.

Special attention will be given to communications and protocol during docking and anchoring, which you may currently experience as stressful activities, to encourage calm, knowledgeable exchanges.

The course will cover the effective of wind and current, approach to docks and anchorages, strategies for anchoring in crowded or limited anchorages, stress, communications as well as full keel and fin keel considerations, amongst other subjects.

We will also discuss the importance of knowing the unique handling characteristics of your vessel, how and why. Please bring your questions and come prepared to learn!

About the instructor

Canadian Yachting and International Yachting certified with 20 years of sailing and offshore experience, Marla specializes in team building for new skippers and crews as well as women's only sailing lessons.

Marla organizes international sailing vacations and flotillas. She also welcomes the opportunity to work with couples, typically first-time boaters who have recently purchased the boat of their dreams. Marla is proficient as both coach and instructor, ensuring safe sailing, docking and anchoring.
