14-22 March 2020
Due to increasing concerns with COVAD19 (Coronavirus), the three Sunfish Championships scheduled for March 14-March 22 in Clearwater, FL, will not be held.
While this may represent an inconvenience to those who have made travel plans, in the opinion of Class leadership and the event organizers, this was the right decision.

That said, there are numerous questions yet to be resolved regarding this cancellation including:
1. Will these World Qualifier Championships be rescheduled? This has yet to be determined and will depend upon what happens in the next few months regarding the overall state of the nation's health.
2. Will I receive a refund of my entry fee? Yes, but its likely it will not be a full refund. The organizing committee has already spent funds in preparation for the regatta. Once those expenses have been tallied, appropriate notifications and refunds will issued.
3. I'm already on my way south, can I still go sailing in Clearwater? Yes, the sailing center in Clearwater will welcome any registered sailors who still would like to sail recreationally in their waters.
The Sunfish Class thanks the Clearwater Yacht Club and the Clearwater Community Sailing Center for its
efforts in preparing for these events with special nods to Fairlie Brinkley, Gail Heausler, and Steve McNally. On one hand, this was a difficult decision to make as many of us had high expectations of great regattas in Clearwater.
On the other hand, it was an easy decision to make given the expansion of affects brought on by concerns over the COVID19 outbreak.
