Royal Wolf, Australasia’s largest shipping container provider, has modified a container into a fish filleting station and distribution hub for the Kai Ika Project, a community initiative operating out of Mangere’s Papatuanuku Kokiri Marae. It redistributes fish heads and off cuts which would normally go to waste out to the local community.
The container enabled Kai Ika and the marae to quadruple its supply - from 250kgs a week to over 1,000 kgs - to help meet growing demand from families in need. During Lockdown they had queues 400m down the road.
