The battle of the Melges 20 fleet continues in the waters of the Gulf of Follonica: after yesterday's exciting debut that had led to a very short ranking with the first seven crews grouped in only a seven points margin, today the fleet has completed three more races, with wind from the West initially blowing at 12 knots and then gradually decreasing.

Today's races have overturned the precarious balance that was outlined after the regattas of Day 1. The first change in the standings is that of the leader, who now responds to the name of Filippo Pacinotti's Brontolo (1-2-4 today): the crew of Pacinotti takes the top of the ranking from Vladimir Prosikhin's Nika (4-7-7), now fourth in the standings. Fremito d'Arja by Dario Levi (3-1-2), best boat of the day, climbs to the second place on the provisional podium, while the bronze medal at the moment goes to Russian Bogatyrs (2-5-1), three points behind by the leader.

In the Corinthian fleet, the rhythm is once again set by Marco Giannini's Siderval (5-6-9), sixth in the general ranking, followed by B.Lex of the new entry Benedetta Iovane (9-9-8) and Mojito by Florian Rixner (14-10-14).

Today also represented the debut of the Melges 14 fleet in the 2020 season: the day was challenging for the sailors, who had to deal with a steep wave and changes in the intensity of the wind. Leading the ranking, after the three regattas, is Piero Poggi, with an impeccable scoreline of three bullets, followed by Alessio Muciaccia and the very young Leopoldo Sirolli in third position.

Tomorrow the series of Tuscan regattas will end for both fleets. The races will begin at 11.00 and it will not be possible to have starting procedures after 15.00.

Learn to love sailing in heavy air
If sailing in breeze isn't your strong suit, you are not alone When I was about ten years old I starting racing sailboats on Cape Cod and the sound of the wind whistling overnight through the pine trees outside my bedroom would make it hard to sleep.
