Since the RYA's announcement allowing double handed sailing to resume, our youth Nacra 15 teams have been busy training both as a squad and individually, with several sailors moving out of junior classes and into the Nacra 15!
Our first post-lockdown training camp was held in late August at WPNSA, where 7 teams met with our new RYA Head Coach and London 2012 Olympian, Kate Macgregor, alongside current Nacra 17 European Champion crew Nikki Boniface! With Saturday spent onshore due to strong winds, all teams were eager to launch on Sunday, with flat water and 20-25 knots! After a morning session spent getting used to sailing the boats again, the afternoon's focus was on racing, with all teams quickly getting up to speed and racing closely throughout the fleet!
We now look forward to the remainder of our summer training programme, where all teams will train together with the support of our world class coaches:
- MDL Hamble Point Marina - 26th/27th September
- WPNSA - 10th/11th October
- WPNSA - 17th/18th October
With our busy international racing schedule cancelled, this year's pinnacle event for the UK fleet will be the RYA Youth Nationals, held at WPNSA from the 30th October to 1st November. Enter here!
There has never been a better time to join this exciting, dynamic class following an influx of junior sailors into the class, supported by the experience of our older teams! There are both second-hand and newer boats available at great value in the UK, as well as charter and demo options available!
