LVMYC is aiming to start a fleet of RC Lasers as a means of recruiting new members
The Lee Valley Model Yacht Club has always prided itself in its success at recruiting complete beginners into the sport of RC Racing.
At its inception it created and adopted The RYGGED Start personal handicapping system which is now in use throughout the world, including two full size yacht clubs in the USA.
In its continued effort to expand the sport it has now decided to adopt the 'official' RC Laser and will try to build a fleet.
The American built RC Laser requires no construction work to be carried out by the purchaser and can be sailed from box to water in 7 minutes. The boat, sails (standard and storm), stand and radio are carried in a specially made carrying bag so transporting could not be easier.
The club starts with just one boat at the present and is looking for new members to join the club and give a boost to this new venture.
The club sails on a lake in the Clayton Hill Country Park, Nazeing, which is situated in the Lee Valley Regional Park close to Hoddesdon, to the North of London.
Visitors to the club are welcome to try out the boat. It is recommended that the club be contacted first if possible.
