Team GBR have sailed their way into the final of the eSailing Nations Cup where they will take on Spain this Friday (06 November, 9pm) in a bid to be named best eSailing nation in the world.

Organised by World Sailing, the eSailing Nations Cup is a nation versus nation knockout competition, which started in October with 13 countries in the initial fleet races.

Starting with a solid performance in the fleet racing, GBR qualified in 2nd place pushing them straight into the quarter finals. After a convincing win over Germany the team progressed to the semi-finals and a nail-biting victory against Italy last weekend secured their place in the final.

Leading the GBR team is Captain, Mike O'Donovan (Deja-Vu). "The semi-finals were very tough and all credit to the Italians for pushing us so hard. I think I can speak for most of the team when I say we are super glad we could pull through. After the brackets were announced we knew it would be a tough journey to get here and we are so glad we could battle through the competition to get here.

"Having achieved our goal, and going in as the relative underdogs, it lifts some of the pressure off so we can now just race for fun - though I imagine we'll still want to win just as much and will still fight just as hard! I'm sure we can give the Spanish a good run for their money and hopefully steal the victory".

Don't miss the chance to watch all the action live on Friday night at 9pm on the RYA Facebook page or World Sailing's YouTube Channel.

eSailing World Championship Final

Also taking place this weekend (Saturday 07 November) is the eSailing World Championships 2020 Final and for the first time, we have two GBR eSailors competing for the title.

Donnie Gillies and Mike O Donovan (Déjà Vu) sealed their place in the final after three-action packed days of racing in the play-offs which saw 820 eSailors battle on virtual waters to get down to just eight.

Tune in at 9pm and cheer for our GBR eSailors on the RYA Facebook page or World Sailing's YouTube Channel.
