Well known German 5O5 sailor Boris Herrmann was hours from finishing on the podium after racing around the world single handed in the Vendée Globe when he unfortunately collided with a fishing boat. No one was hurt but the damage knocked Boris back to fifth spot.
Amazing that single handed foiling yachts can sail around the world pretending they are 5O5s and still all finish so close together.
See this short interview where Boris talks to Christophe Favreau about how meeting the many professional sailors racing 5O5s encouraged him to also become a professional sailor.
