Harken Derm, the provider of professional high-performance sunscreen and skincare products, has joined the US Sailing Team as an Official Partner. Harken Derm will provide the athletes on the annually-selected U.S. Sailing Team (USST) with their full range of long-lasting protective and repair products, that have been specifically designed to thrive in the marine environment.
"US Sailing Team athletes need the absolute best in UV protection, which is important not only for long-term skin health, but their performance on the racecourse," said Dr. Edit Olasz Harken MD PhD, the co-founder of Harken Derm. "I'm thrilled to be partnering with the team, not only so that we can help protect the athletes, but so that they can be examples to sailors across the country of how to approach UV protection the right way."
Beyond UV protection, Harken Derm products provide additional features that are important for sailors. The sunscreen is highly water and sweat-resistant, keeping users protected for longer. The cream is also quick-drying and lacks the greasy and runny aspects of other brands. Additionally, it's packed with antioxidants and hydrating ingredients that are vital to the skin repair process.
"Harken Derm is the best sunscreen product on the market and will be used by our sailors as we race and train around the world," said Paul Cayard, Executive Director of U.S. Olympic Sailing. "We are grateful to Dr. Olasz Harken, who like her husband Peter Harken, has a longstanding history of supporting our program. This partnership is an example of how we are sourcing top-shelf performance technology to help our athletes race at their best."
Harken Derm products were designed in reaction to Dr. Olasz Harken's personal experience treating skin cancer and other UV-related issues. "Sailors are at high risk for early skin aging and skin cancer because they spend a lot of time in the sun," said Dr. Olasz Harken. "Sailors often don't use the appropriate sunscreen for the environments they are in. We set out to create Harken Derm sunscreen to fix this, and our two-product system follows our 'Morning Protection and Evening Repair' philosophy. Daytime protection is key, but it's also important to allow nightly repair to help your skin recover."
