Let's start from the end: Protests... I thought it was an easy day, was an azure sky with huge anvil clouds on the mountains at noon, low wind, shooting from the shore, finding a second lap on RIB, but it looks not with four protest on the table:
- Vivacious: redress RRS Appendix A9a (?)
- Moonbeam of Fife 88 vs Mariska D-1: RRS11, D-1 DSQ
- Skylard vs Meerblick Fun M-11: RRS11, M-11 DSQ
- RA
- RECLUTA A-10 vs MANITU 62: RRS18.3+RRS14, A-10 & 62 DSQ both
Being nearly a local, I had seen the weather conditions and so I had decided to take my bike and ride around the shore to shoot with another point of view.
But before the start with the AP Flag up, I decided to be proactive and I spend some time with the Great Germàn Frers speaking of technical design and the new Nautor Swan he touched (see the next report for details... it's been a great honour!)
The race started at 10:30UTC with the big boats. TUIGA D-3 has shown great speed, but after the RC had been obliged to relocate the line and the first mark (disengage). Inshore, the wind on track 10 has never been above 6-7[kts], not a fast race, but very delicate. The light has made my job quite easy.
The battle between P+NY Classes and the others of the group is really hot, anything can happen! In the others groups the battle is open but some have a clear leader. Unfortunately in the big boats, Mariska is out of the game, to win you need time and the new crew is learning.
Around 13:00UTC the RC modified the course from the outside far mark to make it possible to finish on time. The western wind has docking a bit complicated, however all sailors were happy with the day, the strip is sufficiently crowded to keep the standard of the event despite Covid.
The moon is shining on the bay, so it's time to go sleep with the hope for the weather (the forecast is good for all models).
