George Beevor joins Stoneways Marine as Yacht Manager

by Stoneways Marine 5 Jan 2022 14:26 GMT

George Beevor has joined Stoneways Marine, the specialist marine trade and yacht insurance providers, as their Yacht Manager. As both an avid sailor and a long standing insurance professional, George's appointment further cements Stoneways Marine as one of the most experienced specialist marine insurance teams in the UK.

George will be focusing on developing the yachting portfolio and delivering the best insurance solutions for yacht owners across the country, building on the reputation for excellence which Stoneways Marine has gained since its founding.

Keith Lovett, Managing Director - Stoneways Marine said, "Taking best care of yacht owner's insurance needs requires a deep, specialist knowledge and understanding, that being an active part of their sailing world really helps with. As a keen sailor and familiar face to many, especially those that race in the Solent, along with over 20 years' insurance experience, George makes a valuable addition to our team."

George joins Stoneways Marine having spent the last 10 years as Claims Manager for Temple Legal Protection Ltd, a specialist MGA. Prior to this George held positions with a number of brokers and insurers in the London Market.

Despite coming from a family with strong links to the sea, George did not enter sailing through the traditional route, instead stepping straight onto big boats in his twenties. He was introduced to sailing at the Joint Services Adventurous Sail Training Centre in Gosport whilst serving in the Royal Navy Reserve. Instantly hooked, he took ownership of his first small cruiser after a very short time and has since progressed on through a further four boats (so far).

When he's not working, George can be found cruising his Sparkman & Stephens sloop "Ugly Duckling" around the Solent. A keen yacht racer, he is currently the racing secretary of the of the Sparkman & Stephens Association and in 2019 was awarded their Global Regatta Trophy.

George has also been involved in sail training and in particular introducing adults with learning difficulties to yachting. As a trustee of the charity Ausome, George took part in the 2019 Rolex Fastnet Race on the Nautor Swan 43, Lyra of London.

George and Stoneways Team can be contacted for all your trade and yacht insurance enquiries via 03333 609 886 or via their website www.stoneways.co.uk.
