After battling it out over a period of three months, the best Canadian eSailors will face off virtually on Tuesday, June 7 at 8 pm (Eastern Time) in the final races of the second edition of the Canadian eSailing Championship.

During the final stage of the 2022 Canadian eSailing Championship, participants will compete in five races in J-70 boats at a venue and a wind speed that will be announced the day of the competition.

The list of finalists includes the champion from the inaugural season, Andreas Koechli from Toronto, ON, who will be looking to defend his title after he finished first at the 2022 Canadian eSailing Championship. He will be competing against his father Marco. Other participants to watch out for at the 2020 Canadian eSailing Championship are 2016 Olympian in Laser Lee Parkhill and Sail Canada Development Squad member in 49er Arie Moffat.

Sailing fans will be able to watch the competition as it happens. The event will be streamed live through a Zoom video conference link, (Password: 790948).

Prizes from Helly Hansen and qualifying for the World eSailing Championship

The top 10 participants in overall standings following the final five races - points earned before the final round will be excluded - will qualify for the World Championship that is held annually in the fall and is sanctioned by World Sailing. The final date for that event remains to be confirmed.

The final races of the 2022 Canadian eSailing Championship are presented by Helly Hansen Canada, proud supporter of the Canadian eSailing Championship and official apparel partner and outfitter for the Canadian Sailing Team.

In addition to providing financial support for the event, Helly Hansen will award prizes to the top three finishers with amazing kits valued at close to $2000 in total and that include:

  • 1st place: a jacket and pants, for a total value of up to $800;
  • 2nd place: a jacket and a duffle bag, for a total value of up to $600;
  • 3rd place: a jacket, for a total value of up to $400.
