The most international edition yet of the Rey Juan Carlos I El Corte Inglés Máster Regatta is ready for its launch. The Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo is to host one of its most special editions, with 40 teams from 15 different nationalities, who will be fighting to claim the title of the Xacobeo 6mR Worlds.

An intense agenda for the RCNS with preparations for the World Championships, sees the 7th Rey Juan Carlos I El Corte Inglés Master Regatta focusing its efforts on the two divisions of the 6 Metre class, the Classics and Open, and adapted sailing, with three days of intense competition in the Ria de Pontevedra from Friday 10th until Sunday 12th June.

Pati Blanco, Director of Communications and Institutional Relations for El Corte Inglés in Galicia and Asturias, explains that, "After seven consecutive years of supporting and sponsoring this regatta, El Corte Inglés feels extremely satisfied and proud of the level and consolidation of the event ahead of the world championships. Moreover, the trust we have in the organizational ability of the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, and unbeatable conditions of the Bay of Sanxenxo for sailing, guarantee the consolidation and success of one of the most referential events on the national and international sailing calendar."

"We hope that Sanxenxo will once again become sailing capital for a few days, and the tourism that surrounds the event is accountable in the growth and development of the hotel and tourism sector of the city," concluded Blanco.

Olympic medallists, world champions and America's Cup sailors. The Rey Juan Carlos I El Corte Inglés Master Regatta will see some of the most prominent national and international sailors come together, with names that include Jane Abascal, the first gold medallist for Spain in the Olympic Games (Moscow, 1980), and Ross McDonald, Olympic medallist in Barcelona 92 and Athens 2004, both with Bribon 500 alongside Pedro Campos; Nico Rodríguez, current bronze medallist in the 470 class, and Jorge Martínez Doreste in the Meerblick; Víctor Mariño from Vigo on board Momo; Swiss sailors Michel Teweles and Philippe Durr, skippering Thisbe and Junior; respectively first and second places in the Europeans last year; and President of the ISMA, Louis Heckly with Dix Aôut, among others.

A true selection of great sailing figures, who have chosen Sanxenxo to participate in one of the most important regattas of the 2022 Spanish sailing calendar.

The Race Committee will organize a total of six races throughout the weekend, beginning on Friday at 15:00h and finishing on Sunday with the prize-giving event to be held in the RCNS village once the competition has concluded. For the 6 Metre fleet, the wind conditions will decide whether the regatta is to be held in the Ria or opposite the island of Ons.

The Rey Juan Carlos I El Corte Inglés Master Regatta will once again host students from the National Centre of Adapted Sailing. The teams alongside monitors from the RCNS Sailing school will compete within the club facilities. The aim of this initiative, in progress for many years, is the integration of individuals with disabilities within the sport of sailing.

Once again, the competition will be accompanied by a full social programme to be held at the RCNS Race Village. Throughout the three days of Racing, collaborators, sailors, friends and guests will be able to enjoy live music and the chance to taste local specialties and products with Galicia Calidade.
