West Country Boat Repairs 2000 class Millennium Series at Thorney Island Sailing Club

West Country Boat Repairs' 2000 Class Millennium Series event 5 of 2022 took place in sparkling conditions at Thorney Island SC, Chichester Harbour on 16th and 17th July.

Thorney Island Fleet Captain Jonathan Dannatt organised another brilliant event that attracted an amazing 29 entries.

Fifth place Chris and Gill Jordan travelled from Norwich and report: "Saturday: 8-10 knots, 3 races beating against the tide, and one race beating with the tide. Despite hundreds of other boats on the water, there seemed enough space for us!

"Sunday: 10 knots and rising to 12-14, only a short course as we were beating across the channel. I think we did 5 or 6 laps per race - very intense and nip and tuck racing, with 40 degree shifts to contend with as well! Very well organised and run, and some great cakes on Sunday afternoon!"

Ollie and Esther win overall in style at Torbay After the lay day and the exceptional Noble Marine young sailors fish and chip supper, which was a tour de force, Thursday dawned a little dodgy. The weed added an extra layer of task management and tactical decision-making Round 4 of the West Country Boat Repairs Millenium series was held at Chichester YC, a venue that has become a firm favourite with the 2K class. 19 boats entered the event despite the previous week's very vague forecast of wind anywhere from 7 - 20 knots. Excellent event included fund raising for the Great North Air Ambulance Service Over its 62 years, the Lord Birkett Memorial Trophy run by Ullswater Yacht Club, has evolved into a 3 day festival of sailing, centred on an unique pair of all class handicap races in breath-taking scenery, for dinghies, keelboats and yachts. Wet with a strong, gusty north-east breeze which had built up a significant swell The third event in this year's Latitude Series (sponsored by Lakes Mortgages) was hosted by Filey Sailing Club as part of their annual regatta on 13-14 July 2024. The most crazy end to an event ever! The 2000 class made a very welcome return to the glory that is the treasure of Keyhaven YC for round 4 of the West Country Boat Repair Millennium Series.
