Five boats and we were down to the last event of the Summer series, A wind strength of maximum 7 knots was forecast from the East, so we wouldn't be needing any more than the big sail size for the day.

The far end of the lake was used and a typical olympic course triangle/sausage was adopted, with all marks taken to port. We were in the presence of 2 National champions and it was Derek to win the first couple of races. Shaun was slowly waking up, while Tony threw the last half away of the race to this second National champion. Race two was really a repeat of the first one.

The wind swung by a quarter and we were now on a reversed course taking all marks to starboard and Shaun was now in for his usual string of wins.

The plan was to fire off eight quick races before the Summer heatwave meltdown of the day, even if it meant a slight delay for lunch.

It was really only Shaun's day again, to cement and seal the series, with the only true opposition coming from Derek winning another, the last race. Smiffy had tactically penalised himself, while thinking he was luffing up Derek to the finish line while he himself was the one on the windward side. A little lesson learnt.

We had 13 boats sail in the series with five boats qualifying.

Results for Week 4:

1 Shaun Holbeche 7pts 2 Derek Priestly 9pts 3 Tony Wilson 17 pts

Results for the series (Best from 3):

1 Shaun Holbeche 300pts 2 Tony Wilson 230pts 3 Rob Wheeler 199pts

With a race within a race for the Johnson family The wind was blowing from the clubhouse direction for the ten RC Laser entries. It looked to be a stock 'B' rig all-dayer, but with the light patch at the entry point, a bit of extra sail cloth helps you get through the lulls. Posted on 6 Oct 2024

Two multiple National RC Laser champions lead the battle With a forecast predicting rain for most of the day, we were pleasantly surprised to arrive at the lakeside and still not a drop of rain. A westerly breeze and the few remaining large sails were put aside after practice. Posted on 8 Jul 2024

With the wind forever increasing in strength a couple of 'D' rigs were brought out The showers had just about died out on arrival, to leave us with a nice Blowy Westerly. No need for the big sails today and it was a decider for the next 2 sail sizes, giving us a mix for the first couple of races. Posted on 18 Jun 2024

Course allows boats to be closer than normal and with more possible infringements The Race Team using the wind direction of SE and 8 knots speed set a narrow course with a wing mark to form the triangle for the triangle sausage format. This effectively gave two downwind legs, a reach along the leeward end of the course and two beats. Posted on 27 Feb 2024
