21st Rolex Swan Cup at Yacht Club Costa Smeralda - Day 3

by Yacht Club Costa Smeralda 15 Sep 2022 17:05 BST 11-18 September 2022

No racing took place on the third day of the 21st edition of the Rolex Swan Cup under way in Porto Cervo. The forecast of a day dominated by very unstable conditions due to the passage of an unpredictable weather front, unfortunately proved to be correct.

The Race Committee had already set up the coastal routes for all classes taking part, when a drop in the wind forced them to hoist the AP flag, postponing the start time while they waited for the weather situation to become clear. After waiting for over an hour, with the wind remaining unstable and very light, and with the forecast of a storm approaching the race course with possible strong gusting winds, the Race Committee prioritised the safety of crews and boats and sent the fleet back to the docks.

The Race Committee is continuing to monitor weather conditions ahead of tomorrow's racing, with the start likely to be moved forward.

The final decision will be made by 8 p.m. CEST tonight, Thursday 15 September.
