With the advent of better clothing technology, many sailors want to sail throughout the year. The annual East Midlands Winter Mini Series was born several years ago for those that wished to race locally in January & February.

The series has now grown from an inter-club event to four venues, each providing a weekend of winter racing, with individual weekend and series results. Please check each clubs website for NoR and SI, however generally the briefing is 10.45am on Saturday.

The first weekend of the series is at Burton SC with the Burton Blizzard (www.burtonsailingclub.co.uk) on 14/15th January 2023, followed by the Notts County Cooler (www.ncsc.org.uk) two weeks later on 28/29th January. The 18/19th February sees the Staunton Winter Blaster (shsc.org.uk), and finally the Ogston Woolly Jumper (www.ogstonsc.org/) on the final weekend of February 25/26th.

Anyone can enter, but the paid up members of each club are free at any of the venues, to encourage travelling and participation. (Adult visitors £20/£14, Juniors half price).

Each venue is aiming for four average lap handicap races (PY 902 and above) and a pursuit race, depending on conditions. There are also windsurf starts at Burton and Notts County.

We hope to see many local sailors at one or more event.
