IRC Super Zero is a class that boasts some of the most impressive and technologically advanced yachts in the world. With four Volvo 70s and two VO65s, this fleet of canting-keel boats can reach breathtaking speeds on the water. The competition is fierce among the fleet, as we see in this year's event.
In this video, we take a closer look at the tactics, logistics and strategy behind the RORC Caribbean 600, with interviews from three of the competing boats: Grzegorz Baranowski, Skipper of Polish National Foundation's I Love Poland, Richard Palmer of the RORC team racing on Green Dragon (NED) skippered by Johannes Schwarz, and Ben Mitchell of Roy P. Disney's Volvo 70 Pyewacket.
Join the excitement as they battle it out in IRC Super Zero at the RORC Caribbean 600 which starts on Monday 20th February 2023.
Szymon Kuczynski's Figaro One Hultaj (POL), measuring only 9 metres in length, will be the smallest boat racing in IRC Two-Handed, alongside a total of five doublehanded teams.
It's worth noting that Hultaj is actually a large boat compared to the one Szymon used to set a world record in 2018 when he completed a singlehanded and unaided circumnavigation aboard the 6.3 metre sloop Atlantic Puffin over a period of 270 days.
Kate Cope's Purple Mist will also be competing in the Two-Handed race category with Co-Skipper Claire Dresser, following on from their success in the RORC Transatlantic Race - completing the race and becoming the first Two-Handed all-female team to do so.
The Two-Handed teams are competing in the RORC Caribbean 600 starting on Monday 20th February 2023 from Antigua.
