Association of Dunkirk Little Ships (ADLS) Commemorative' Cruise 2023

by Karen Cox 27 May 2023 20:48 BST 26-29 May 2023

The Association of Dunkirk Little Ships will be commemorating the 83rd anniversary of Operation Dynamo, over the weekend of 26th May to 29th May 2023 at Chatham Maritime Trust Moorings, Chatham Marina, Kent.

Seventeen unique Dunkirk Little Ships will be paying tribute by collectively coming together in the memory of the events which took place between 27th May to 5th June 1940.

The core objective of the Association is to keep alive and preserve for posterity the memory of those 338,000 plus troops rescued from the beaches of Dunkirk, the 850 private vessels which sailed to their aid and the one in seven soldiers which were left behind as prisoners of war. These boats are all that remain and live on in memory of their service to the nation.

We cannot thank them enough for their service to our country and all that they have done to achieve the freedom we enjoy today.

The ships will be on public view between 11am to 4pm Friday 26th to Monday 29th May. There Will be a service of remembrance held on the Quayside of the Maritime Trust at 13:00 on Sunday 28th.

The commemorative cruise is the most important part of our yearly calendar, and we very much look forward to welcoming the public to view our Little Ships and learn of their individual histories and involvement in the rescue mission which turned a military disaster into a story of heroism, courage and solidarity in the face of adversity.
