eSailing Cagliari Trophy

by eSailing Cup 11 Jun 2023 13:43 BST 19 June 2023

The eSailing Cup app

The app is free and available for Android and Apple, in Italian and English. To play with the eSailing Cup you don't need to have sailing experience, you just need to train: just adjust the sail sheet with your left thumb, and the rudder with your right; At the top of the screen is your speed, your position, your opponent's, wind speed and direction.

Each challenge includes three races, whoever wins the most wins the regatta and earns points. The challenges can be simultaneous, when the opponent is online at the same time, and also deferred: in this case whoever challenges will perform his test alone, and whoever receives the challenge will perform his test by competing with the opponent's ghost, i.e. with the graphical reproduction of its process.

Since it reproduces the real behavior of boats, it will be necessary to periodically use the points accumulated in the challenges to clean the hull and change the sails, so as to avoid a drop in performance, or use the points to replace the hull with a lighter one or the sails in carbon, to improve performance.

eSailing Cagliari Trophy, the virtual sailing regatta with real finals

The eSailing Cagliari Trophy is a one-of-a-kind sailing event that combines virtual and real regattas: you compete online with the eSailing Cup app in the sea in front of Cagliari, where the whole coast and the city are reconstructed in 3D, and the finalists will then compete at sea, in the same regatta field, where they will be guests of AVAS, the Sardinian Offshore Sailing Shipowners Association, which will include them in the crews of 10 sailing boats and will also offer them free accommodation in the city.

Participation in the event is free!

To take part you need to download the app and register in the Trophies section: from 19 June to 16 July you will have to challenge (and win!) the greatest number of opponents to earn points. The top 10 in the standings will be the finalists who will compete in the real Cagliari test on Sunday 29 October.
