Many thanks to Castle Cove Sailing club for another wonderful Topper Traveller weekend.

Saturday brought a medium wind and wonderful sunshine for a productive and highly enjoyable day. With the coaches Ollie Hale (Poole) and Ollie Fellow (a Castle Cove local) making the sailors work hard on their boat speed in the morning and tactics in the afternoon.

The race day promised sun and a medium wind which was forecast to drop and go right as it had done on the training day.

In the first race Nicola Richards overtook Thomas Semmens at the end of the final beat to clinch the win.

Victory Montgomery won the second race quite comfortably leading from start to finish.

Thomas won the third race to make way for a tense final race with Thomas, Nicola and Victory all still with a chance of coming first. Bruno Greenfield and Harry Mills in fourth and fifth were tied on points. While in the 4.2 fleet there was just one point between the two boats.

Race four began with only an average start by everyone. Nicola went right with Victory covering her. Thomas, Edward Lee and Harry Mills went up the middle while Bruno Greenfield went hard left. Thomas came out in front, Bruno in second, then Victory closely followed by Nicola and Harry with Edward close behind. By the end of the down wind the order was now Thomas, Bruno, Nicola, Edward, Harry and Victory in sixth. It stayed like that till the end of the race giving Thomas his hardest fought win of the season.

A massive thanks to the race team, the coaches and of course the parents (though they looked pretty content taking advantage of the club's huge sun terrace and private beach). Thanks to local hero 2012 Olympic Gold medallist Lijia Xu for presenting the prizes and especially Sailingfast for donating water bottles as prizes for every sailor.
