Contender class training day to be held at Oxford Sailing Club

On Saturday 26th August the BCA will be running a training day for all new and intermediate Contender sailors. This event will take place at Oxford Sailing Club.

The event will be open to all, but will be aimed at developing the skills of those new to the class, or looking to improve, of course old hands can still learn a thing or two as well.

The training is free to all British Contender Association Members and £30 to non-members (hint, its £20 to join the BCA) and will be run by Adam Bowers, pro coach, with input from experienced Contender sailors to get that boat specific info and to help with onshore tuning.

On Sunday 27th join in with the OSC club racing for two races back-to-back, start 11am, finish by 2pm - no fee as part of the weekend activities.

Schedule:

  • 10:00 on shore check of rig by experienced contender sailors for those that want it.
  • 11:00 Briefing by Adam
  • 11:30 on the water session 1
  • 12:30 / 13:00 lunch
  • 13:30 session 1 debrief
  • 14:00 session 2...
  • 16:00 debrief
  • 16:30 pack up and go home or stay on for the club racing

Accommodation for those staying for the Sunday club racing, there is no camping or cars/vans to be left overnight on site however there is a local campsite and various pubs reasonably close. In addition, there is free accommodation for a number of people about 40 minutes from the club.
