Six midwinter races in Florida waters tested new designs with "rock stars" from around the world... it was a serious fashion show.

J/Boats teams excelled in those offshore events, John Kolius in a J/30 (2nd in Class) in 1981, Mark Ploch & Stu J on J/36 BLUE BAYOU (1st in Class) in 1983, Perry Harris/Ken Read/ Stu J on the J/41 DAZZLER (2nd class, 2nd Overall in 1984), and Charlie Scott on the J/41 SMILES (overall winner in 1985). The SORC lives on today with the Storm Trysail Club's support as the "Islands in the Stream Series". For the 2023-24 schedule, they are going "old school" by returning to Florida's west coast.
