This Saturday, 16th December, the Polar Pursuit is returning to Chase Sailing Club for another year! There's still time to enter and the forecast looks great!
Last year's race was a great success, with 60 plus boats entering from 15 different classes, Nick Craig winning the trophy in his OK, and this year has just got even better and is shaping up to be a fantastic open.
Who are the runners and riders so far?
Nick Craig - Returning to defend his title in the OK, will this be another trophy for the cabinet from 2023.
Andy (Taxi) Davies - Nick got the better of Taxi in last year's race, will this year be a chance for the local sailor to show his skill in the OK?
Eden Hyland - As a Chase member Eden has no excuses to not know where to pick out the shifts on his home waters, will the RS300 be the boat to win the Polar Pursuit?
Chris Martin - Chris has showed great form in the Scorpion this year, could this be the year a double handed boat wins the pursuit?
Jake Willers - Jake is sailing his RS600 again this year, after finishing in the top ten last year could this be the year for the fast boats?
Neil Wilkinson - A former member and someone who knows Chasewater well, sailing his Solo Neil is bound to be in the running. Finishing 5th last year.
Adam Froggatt - Another local, Adam has been in scintillating form in the Phantom, posting a string of top 5 finishes in opens. Finishing 4th last year this could be his year? but can he get past the OK's?
We are pleased to announce that Hartley Boats have stepped up to sponsor the event and provide prizes enabling the entry fee to be held at just £10 per boat.
Chase Sailing Club is a great central location for all visitors, set in the beautiful surroundings of Chasewater country park boasting a 900-hectare reservoir which will offer some very exciting, tight racing.
With plenty to do in the surrounding area why not bring the family along as well? Having started in 2018, the event steadily grew into a 40+ turnout in 2021, and 60+ in 2022.
The event is open to all monohull (non keel) dinghies with a PY between 1390-900, and with an entry fee of just £10 per boat, don't miss out on this great excuse to avoid Christmas shopping and come sailing instead.
Entry is available online here, www.chasesc.org.uk/event/897475 along with SIs, NOR & Start Times.
Entry is limited to 70 boats, so make sure you don't miss out! Hope to see you all there.
