2024 ILCA 6 Youth and Men's World Championships at Yacht Club Argentino - Day 3

by ILCA/Yacht Club Argentino 17 Jan 2024 02:25 GMT 12-19 January 2024

The third day of racing of the 2024 ILCA 6 Youth and Men's World Championships, organized by the Yacht Club Argentino and the International Laser Class Association, began with southeast winds ranging from 6 to 8 knots.

Due to the variable wind direction and intensity, the day proved challenging, with the considerable waves taking center stage. The races were highly competitive, and all divisions had very tight finishes.

Three races were held in the Men's ILCA 6 division, and the Argentinian Francisco Renna maintains the lead with a 7-point advantage over the second-placed Brazilian Antonio Cavalcanti Rosa. Following closely behind is Juan Pablo Bisio from Argentina, who finished in third place.

In the Youth Women's Division, three races were also completed. Italian Maria Vittoria Arseni remains in first place after winning the last race of the day. She is followed by the Ukrainian Alina Shapovalova, who achieved two second-place finishes in today's races. Completing the top three spots is Sienna Wright from Ireland, who had both a first and second-place finish today.

The Youth Men's division only completed two races today. Antonio Pascali from Italy continues to lead in first place. The Brazilian Thomas Vives Potthoff is in second place and moves in closely behind with a 3-point difference. The American Jake Homberger is in third place to round out the top three.

At the end of the day, a midweek party was held in the tent for all competitors. Today marked the conclusion of the qualifying series. The final series will begin tomorrow, with fleets divided into gold and silver.

All information about the event, as well as photos and videos, is available on the official event website and on the social media pages.
