Bring your Sonata or get your hands on one and come and enjoy sailing in a competitive class at the 2024 Sonata National Championships. The event will offer one design racing for all abilities.

This year they are being held at Medway Yacht Club between Sunday 11th August and Wednesday 14th August 2024.

Racing will take place over 4 days and a maximum of 16 races are scheduled. Olympic style courses will be set in the challenging tidal river Medway. At least one of the races will be sailed "round the cans" with a special course using more of the river.

The club is located near the motorway network making it easily accessible for those coming from afar. Some East coast clubs are an easy day sail away. It is anticipated that there will be about 25 competitors from clubs across the whole country including the South and East coasts, Ullswater, etc.

Medway Yacht Club offers fantastic club facilities so you will be able to enjoy the après sailing as well. There will be great social events each evening including live music, championship dinner, quiz night and Lazer racing. Competitors will be offered all meals including packed lunches in the club house as part of a competitive meal package. All will be welcome to use the well stocked bar.

The club has an ample area for parking, road trailers, etc and offers a free launch, recovery and mast stepping for competing yachts that arrive by road. Mooring will be on the club all-tide pontoon and a launch service is provided to the Gillingham/Chatham side of the river for ease of getting to and from hotels and other accommodation.

The club has an on-site campsite. Tents to hire will be offered or bring your own tents. Caravans and camper vans can also be accommodated.

The club has a history of welcoming boats to the Sonata Nationals last held here in 2018. It also regularly hosts other class championships. The club has an active competitive Sonata fleet including a recent class National Championship winner.

We are in discussions with several exciting sponsors to offer prizes. Entries go live in February and fees are set at £175 for early birds before 1st May 2024 and £200 thereafter.

Entry forms and more information can be found at www.medwayyachtclub.com

We look forward to welcoming boats to Medway Yacht Club for what should be a great National Championship this year.
