XVl Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja - Day 3

Third day and again the wind has wanted to be the protagonist, although this time at the end of the day has been somewhat more benevolent with the fleet of 427 Optimists allowing to close 4 tests in total, so you can give way to the final round, even if only in one day of the two planned. Long day with the start of the races around 12.00 hours.

The favorites have met and all are placed in the gold group without surprises. The Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja already has its first leaders of the absolute general, after the closing of the qualifying round after three days of competition. The Catalan Iker Múgica (CN Cambrils) commands in a clear and convincing way in Torrevieja waters being the only sailor who has managed to make full, four out of four. With the discard Múgica adds 3 points.

Just 2 points behind is Juan Lleonart (CN El Balís) after a total of 3-1-3-1. Behind have been classified the Turkish Mehmet Erkut Budak, but shares a place with Joan Domingos Cebamanos (CN Cambrils), as both conclude the qualifying series tied at 6 points.

The first female of the table is the Ukrainian Olha Lubianska. She has 12 points after discarding her worst partial. She has the same points as the local Juan Francisco Chumillas (RCN Torrevieja) who is placed one place ahead in the overall absolute. The second place in SUB16 female is for the Canarian Marta Mansito (RCN Gran Canarias) with 23 points, 11 points behind Lubianska, while the Swedish Cornelia Baldock (LDSS) is third with 25 points.

Regarding the SUB13, Izán Rogel (RCN Torrevieja) from Torrevieja is in first place in his category, with 14 points at the end of this qualifying round. He is followed by the Cantabrian Miguel Echávarri (RCM Santander) with 17 and the Valencian Pablo López (RCN Valencia) who has 30 points. In the women's group, first place in the SUB13 for Alexandra Youji Wangliu (RCN Valencia), while second place goes to Ahnieshka Madonich (Optimist Way / Svoc) and third place goes to Germany's Elly Echternach.

With these four races completed for the four groups, the places for gold, silver, bronze and emerald are defined. Tomorrow Sunday, January 28, fourth and final day of the Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja in which three tests of this final round are scheduled.
