Dovestone Sailing Club are hosting their annual Open Day on 27th April from 10am to 4:30pm. It's your perfect chance to try out dinghy sailing at the idyllic setting of Dovestone Reservoir.

The event is run as part of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Discover Sailing initiative. You can book a timed slot here. Come in clothes to suit the day, buoyancy aids are provided. You will be on the water with experienced sailors, so you are in safe hands. If you decide to take it further then you can sign-up for one of the clubs training courses, hosted this year on 18th May, 15th June and 10th August.

One family at a previous event included three generations, Mary Dunkerley had been a club member during the club's first year, back in 1967, when the reservoir was filled for the first time. She hadn't been sailing for over 50 years and loved sharing the experience with her son Chris Dunkerley and Grandson, Hugo Dunkerley.

If you've walked around the lake, seen the boats on the water and thought "I'd like to do that", then this is your chance.
