With little or no wind on Saturday morning and no one wanting to race on Sunday morning, the Redwing's 25th Anniversary Medal will remain in the Trophy cabinet this year! The One-Designs fared slightly better and three boats came out to race on Sunday morning.
in the bright sunshine and NE F3 breeze. No 4 helmed single handed by Alexander Ross led from the start in the two races that were on offer; Stephan Ludwig, with Laurence Blackburn crewing and doing a bit of coaching on the way round was second in both races and Mark Hodgkinson, helming No 8 single handed (for the first time) was third.
The first race was intentionally very short from Pepe to Footprint and back so that Stephan and Mark could get the measure things. The second race was a bit longer from Pepe to Britten, back to Pepe and then with the option of Nainby back to Pepe. In the event, Alexander was so far ahead that the race was finished at Pepe. A lovely morning to be out on the water and some useful experience especially for Stephan ad Mark.
Although Alexander's experience meant he finished well ahead in both races, well done to Mark and Stephan.
With next weekend being a late May Bank Holiday, its the Gunston Trophy for the Redwings and the Lowry Corry Trophy for the One-Designs.
BSC members had two boats in Saturday's UKOPRA Round the Island race; and both won their classes! Hugo Peel, with Adrian de Ferranti & Richard Jessel in Thunderstreak and Harry Pink as the navigator in Motorvated Racing. Harry and his helm Baylan Blanks are the youngest team to have ever competed in a UKOPRA event! Although last, at least they got round and their successful last minute repairs to their engine impressed everyone!
