Entries are now open for the next stop in the British Keelboat League with Rutland Sailing Club looking forward to the return of the event to the Midlands.
The #rockupandrace BKL series is heading inland and inviting up to 10 teams enjoy a weekend of fast and fun racing in the club's RS21 keelboats, 20-21 July 2024.
Event coordinator David Wilkins, of Rutland Sailing Club, said: "We're looking forward to welcoming teams from the Midlands along with entries from further afield.
"As highlighted in the feedback from the most recent BKL qualifier at Marconi-Stone, these events are not just for seasoned keelboat sailors but also for dinghy racers who might like to get a team together to represent their club."
Teams who want to familiarise themselves with the RS21s beforehand will be able to get out on the Friday afternoon for a practise sail, with help on hand to answer any questions about spinnaker and boat handling.
David added: "The RS21s are really rewarding to sail and the fast-turnaround starts mean we're able to get through a lot of races, with teams quickly getting to grips the boats and the exciting format, and learning from each other. It's really sociable so if you've never entered a BKL event before, come along and give it a go!"

The top two teams from the Rutland event will win a place in the national BKL final at the Royal Southern Yacht Club, Hamble, 27-29 September 2024.
The final not only brings together the best BKL teams from around the country but is also a qualifier for clubs to take part in the 2025 European SAILING Champions League, with the team requirements for this available in the BKL Notice of Race.
For the Rutland event the number of crew per team, including helm, is between 4 and 6, with no weight limits. Entries may represent their club, class association, school, university, or with a name relevant to the team if it is a group of friends.
Included in the entry fee is a three course meal for all competitors on the Saturday evening, and booking is available for Rutland SC's bunk room accommodation, or the camping field opposite the club for tents, caravans, campervans/motorhomes, making it affordable and easy to stay on site and enjoy the social.
Entries are £380 per team and should be made no later than 23:59 on 17 July 2024. Find out more about the British Keelboat League or enter now for the BKL at Rutland.
