The light airs that prevented racing on Lake Garda on Day 1 of Foiling Week continued into Day 2, however the ETF26 fleet managed one race to get the event underway.
Live Ocean Racing placed 6th and are now preparing for a revised schedule of racing on Day 3 which could see up to eight races sailed.
“Today it was a right-hand track and quite patchy and messy. We sailed up into 2nd throughout the race but made a mistake at the top mark and tacked short in no wind, dropping us back to 6th,” describes Liv Mackay, Live Ocean Racing skipper.
While race management attempted to get the ETF26 fleet underway for a second race, the wind evaporated, and they switched to planning for extra racing tomorrow.
Mackay adds, “Foiling Week is a super cool event to be part of and there are heaps of boats here. They’re really not having much luck with the wind this whole last week but its looking good hopefully for the next two days.”
The Live Ocean Racing 2024 team features Liv Mackay, Leonard Takahashi and Oscar Gunn sailing in a three-up configuration.
Tomorrow’s updated schedule will see the ETF fleet head out early with the aim of getting a total of eight races with a break in the middle of the day. Organisers have indicated they’ll try for five races in the morning starting at 8am.
