Although the forecast was not promising in Marseille for Wednesday, however there was sufficient wind to complete the Medal races for the Mens and Womens Dinghy (ILCA6/7) and those Events have now finished but all scheduled Opening Series in the Mens and Womens Kites has been cancelled. They will sail Quarter, Semi Finals and Finals on Thursday August 8.

The move has been made without using the spare days contained in the Notice of Race.

There was no racing in the Kites on Wednesday, and effectively their Opening Series, as the Qualifiers is called, had its last race on Tuesday.

The effect is for the Mens Kite series to be reduced from the 16 races scheduled to just eight races in the Mens Opening Series, and just seven races for the Women's Opening Series.

The Race schedule for Thursday has been updated for the Mixed Dinghy (470) and Mixed Multihull (Nacra 17). The Mixed Dinghy will start the Final Session for the Sailing Olympics with their Medal race scheduled for 0943hrs UTC (1143hrs local time). The Mixed Multihull follows at 1018hrs UTC (1218hrs (local time). Then the Mens and Womens Kites start at 1103hrs UTC (1303hrs) local time.

Below is the race schedule link showing what is planned for Thursday October 8. (All times are local - to find UTC just deduct 2hrs from the local time). Generally an events will only start when the preceding Event has been completed.

  • 1143hrs Mixed Dinghy - Medal Race. To be scheduled.
  • 1218hrs Mixed Multihull - Medal Race. To be scheduled.
  • 1303hrs Mens Kite - Opening Series cancelled for Races 9-16. Semi Final A starts at 1303hrs.
  • 1223hrs Womens Kite - Opening Series cancelled for Races 8-16. Semi Final A starts at 1333hrs.
