Following a productive meeting on August 2nd, 2024, at the Real Club Náutico de Vigo (RCNV) between Francisco Quiroga, President of the Cofradía Europea de la Vela (CEV), and Marco Nannini, organizer of the Global Solo Challenge (GSC), we are pleased to announce the establishment of a formal partnership.

This partnership is grounded in a memorandum of intentions that outlines the main areas of future collaboration between the GSC and CEV, aiming for mutual benefit and growth through joint projects and initiatives.

Key elements of this partnership include:

Strengthening relationships: The partnership will focus on fostering strong relationships in Galicia, Spain, and internationally. This will involve collaborations with local and international stakeholders to enhance the visibility and impact of both

Cultural heritage promotion: Both the GSC and CEV are committed to promoting cultural heritage and supporting cultural projects. This includes the organization of events and initiatives that celebrate and honor the rich maritime history of the Iberian Peninsula.

Coordination with international rescue authorities: The GSC will work closely with international search and rescue (SAR) authorities to ensure the safety and security of participants. The CEV's extensive network and expertise will be invaluable in establishing and maintaining these critical relationships.

Emergency stop collaborations: The partnership will also focus on establishing relationships with countries that could serve as emergency stop points during the race. This proactive approach aims to provide necessary support and safety for the sailors throughout their journey.

Organizing a North Atlantic Sailing event: A highlight of the partnership is the commitment to the organization of a regatta or rally starting and finishing in the iberian peninsula to enrich the calendar of offshore sailing events in the region and serve as training or qualifier for the Global Solo Challenge. This event will not only showcase the rich maritime tradition of the region but also provide a platform for both organizations to collaborate closely.

This partnership marks an exciting chapter for both the Global Solo Challenge and the Cofradía Europea de la Vela. We are confident that this collaboration will lead to the successful realization of shared goals for both organizations.
