Craftinsure Scorpion Inland Championship at Grafham Water Sailing Club

by Jerry Hannabuss 17 Sep 2024 22:40 BST 14-15 September 2024

Superb sailing conditions along with excellent race organization from the Race Officer Nigel Denchfield and his team made for an incredible weekends racing for the Craftinsure Scorpion Inlands.

Six races were held over the two days with traditional Triangle/Sausage or Sausage/Triangle courses being run. Each race was four rounds giving races of approx an hour in length.

The conditions made for some best sailing of the year, with the competitors never being able to relax due to shifts across the course and some blistering close reaches and big decisions needed on which way to take the runs. This led to some excellent close racing across the fleet accompanied by many changes of lead at the front.

Saturday night saw 'Michael Bubble' (tribute) entertain us in the pub and much liquid was consumed to ease our aching muscles, and to welcome some new sailors into the fleet.

Sunday saw a continuation of Saturdays conditions and more close and fast racing.

Congratulations go to the overall winners and Scorpion Inland Champions, Eden Hyland and Steve Graham from Staunton Harold.
