The Dynamic Range of sailing apparel from Henri-Lloyd has been DAME Award Nominated in the Personal Equipment Category, and represents a breakthrough in the use of technology and ergonomics, creating a unique collection of professional-grade clothing designed specifically to meet the needs of competitive sailors.
Henri-Lloyd's new Dynamic Range offers revolutionary stretch and flexibility, whilst still providing the highest levels of waterproofness and breathability.
To create the Dynamic Range, Matteo Alfieri, Henri Lloyd's Head of Experimental Design drew inspiration from other sports, such as running and cycling, studying the ergonomics and fabric technology used. A worldwide search reviewed over 100 fabrics, resulting in collaboration with a Japanese mill and the revolutionary Dynamic Range 4-way stretch fabric was created.
Taking over 24 months to design and develop the range, Henri-Lloyd undertook extensive product testing of its prototype products with world-class sailors from SailGP, TP52 and other programs. The in-house Product Development team analysed and reviewed the sailors' use and movements when wearing Dynamic clothing, and incorporated the sailors' feedback into the final product designs.
The Dynamic Range includes a Jacket, Smock, Dry Top and Salopette designed, shaped and cut for both men and women - all of which can be interchanged to suit weather conditions and racing requirements - resulting in a comprehensive yet lightweight kit bag.
Key features in the Dynamic Range include:
- 2-way stretch fabric, with the back panel in jackets rotated during the manufacturing process to maximise the stretch. This bias feature gives a 4-way stretch functionality across the widest part of the body for greater freedom of movement.
- Orthopaedic elastic straps: Cuffs and waistbands use medical-grade elastic to ensure a secure and comfortable fit, reducing the risk of blood circulation issues
- Articulated and reinforced knees: Using EVA cushioning on the knee, for high comfort when kneeling without compromising the aesthetic of the salopettes, and removing the need for additional external bulky knee protectors. Knee patches reinforced with stretch Cordura which does not restrict the performance of the main fabric, whilst also adding extra reinforcement and durability to high impact areas.
- Lightweight: The Dynamic Jacket weighs just 650 gsm, enhancing agility and reducing fatigue during long races and extended wear.
- Waterproof and breathable: +20k mm waterproof rating and +20k g/m2 /24hr breathability .
- Breeze Clip: Innovative feature incorporated into the Dynamic Jacket enabling full ventilation in hot conditions whilst keeping jacket in place and reducing drag.
- Streamlined and functional: Detachable adjustable hoods, with secure adjusting and fastening systems designed to prevent snagging whilst ensuring a secure fit.
- High Grip Triangular Zip Pullers: Designed in a Henri-Lloyd DNA shape, specially for the Dynamic Range.
- Durability: The 3-layer Dri Pro fabric offers 33% more tear resistance than other comparable fabrics.
- Safety: Tone-on-tone reflective strips.
- Back Hangar: H-shaped back hanger with 100N holding strength to ASTM PS 79 test standard (American Society for Testing and Materials).
- Repairable: Using Henri-Lloyd's repair service, including free wash, DWR C0 PFC reproofing and 2-year warranty.
- Environmental Impact: 100% recycled polyamide fabrics made with yarn certified by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), PFOA-free membrane, PFC-free double DWR coatings and all Dynamic Range fabric can be recycled at the end of its life cycle. In order to increase the sustainability rating on the fabric, the black mesh 20D has also been made from 100% recycled polyamide material.
Complimenting the collection, there is also a Unisex Dynamic Lite Shell Jacket, Deck Short, Dynamic Dri Fast Short Sleeve Tee styled and sized for men and women, and Dri Fast Long Sleeve Tee.
