Stoke Fleming Primary School wins the Henri-Lloyd Leaderbox Blue citizen science project kit

by Henri-Lloyd 11 Dec 2024 16:24 GMT

A primary school whose values are based around helping children to set sail in the world has been named as the winner of an environment research project kit sponsored by Henri-Lloyd.

The Leaderbox Blue is the brainchild of marine environmentalist Monty Halls, and enables anyone - individually or as part of a group - to get actively engaged in a marine conservation project.

During Dartmouth Regatta Week, Henri-Lloyd sponsored a Leaderbox Blue and encouraged local organisations, individuals and companies to apply with details of environmental initiatives which could be undertaken using the Leaderbox Blue resources.

Monty Halls announced that the winning application was received from Dartmouth-based Stoke Fleming Primary School. "The school's ethos is to inspire everyone to explore, dream and discover the world around us, and their application stood out thanks to the school's unstinting emphasis on environmental issues," he says.

With its proximity to some of the most beautiful beaches in South Devon, Stoke Fleming School regularly takes its children to the beaches, helping to ensure they maintain a close relationship with the marine environment and to understand the challenges it faces. "Being the worthy recipient of the Henri-Lloyd Leaderbox Blue will enable the school to carry out citizen science projects such as beach cleans and reporting on environmental issues, all of which are valuable as part of the overall leaderbox Blue research and reporting," says Monty.

The Leaderbox Blue was presented by Monty Halls to Stoke Fleming teacher Ms Amy Wyatt.
