RSHYR 2024 | Second Race Update from Hobart - December 27

Crosbie Lorimer and Wendi Lanham bring you the latest information on the growing list of retirements and what conditions the remaining fleet are experiencing.

The current list and reported causes of 23 retirements at the time of upload is:

  • Alive – Engine Issues
  • Transcendence Rudy Project (DH)- Dismasted
  • Ciao Bella – Steering Issues
  • URM Group - Dismasted
  • Philosopher - Dismasted
  • Master Lock Comanche – Main Sail Damage
  • Wild Oats – Rigging Damage
  • Calibre 12 – Main Sail Damage
  • Centennial – Main Sail Damage
  • Porco Rosso – Man Overboard (retrieved)
  • Mayfair – Broken Gear
  • Zeus – Foil Damage
  • Rum Rebellion (DH) - Unknown
  • Bacchanal – Broken Boom
  • Pretty Woman – Head Stay Damage
  • Georgia Express – Contained Engine Fire
  • Verite (DH) - Electrical Issues
  • Quetzalcotl – Crew Injury
  • Lord Jiminy (DH) – Crew Member Recurring Injury
  • The Shepherd Centre – Engine Issues
  • Gizmo (DH)– Sea Sickness

And of course, Bowline and Flying Fish Arctos who both have experienced a tragic loss of life in separate incidents.

This means that there are 81 still racing with 5 Double Handed retirements and18 still racing in this division.
