Oceania and Australia ILCA Masters Championships 2025 at Westernport Yacht Club - Preview

The 2025 Oceania & Australian ILCA (Laser) Masters Championships are being sailed 21-24 February at Westernport Yacht Club, Balnarring Beach, Victoria.

There is a strong entry of 104 ILCA dinghy sailors from across Australia, with 5 Divisional age groupings from Apprentice Masters (30 - 45 years) to Legend (75 years+) in ILCA 4, 6 and 7 rigs. There are current ILCA Masters champions from the World ILCA Masters championships held in Adelaide in early 2024: James Mitchell (ILCA6 Great Grand Master), Brett Beyer (ILCA7 Grand Master) and Steve Gunther (ILCA7 Great Grand Master).

Also previous World Masters division champions including Lyndall Patterson and Kerry Waraker, and Stuart Wallace Australia's first Laser World champion in 1987.

This is the Australian ranking event for the 2025 ILCA World Masters 19-28 September to be sailed from Formia, Italy.

A pre-regatta coaching clinic lead by successful British international Laser sailor and coach Jon Emmett was conducted at Westernport Yacht Club on two days preceding the Regatta.

The event is being run by ILCA Victoria, Westernport Yacht Club and volunteers from Victorian clubs with the generous support of the Victorian Government through their Significant Sporting Events Program.
