Stephen Bay joins Rivergate Marina & Shipyard as new Director of International Business

Stephen Bay has joined Rivergate Marina & Shipyard as their new Director of International Business.

Captain Stephen Bay has been appointed Director of International Business at Brisbane's Rivergate Marina & Shipyard, bringing with him over 27 years of maritime expertise and a lifelong passion for the industry.

Stephen moves into the role previously held by Steve Fisher who was with Rivergate for 18 years, first as CEO and then as Director of International Business.

A life at sea

Stephen's journey in the marine industry began at 18, working as a dive guide in Fiji's liveaboard dive boat industry. From there, he gained hands-on experience as a divemaster, commercial fishing crew member and eventually, a luxury motor yacht captain.

For the past 15 years, he has helmed some of the world's most prestigious motor yachts, both charter and private sailing across the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Southeast Asian and US coasts. His expertise extends beyond the helm, with experience managing complex yacht operations, overseeing refits and even working on new yacht construction projects in Germany.

"The freedom and adventure of life at sea, as well as the high level of responsibility that comes with being a captain, have kept me passionate for the yachting industry," he shares.

Joining the Rivergate team

He is no stranger to Rivergate. Stephen first visited in 2018 and 2019 as the captain of a large yacht and was immediately impressed by the exceptional service and state-of-the-art facilities. Now, he's excited to leverage his global expertise to step into a new role.

As Director of International Business, he will focus on building relationships with yacht owners, captains and industry leaders and forging new partnerships to drive business growth. Utilising his skills and experience as a Captain who has undertaken shipyard projects and refits around the world, he looks forward to building new partnerships, enhancing client experiences and contributing to the growth of Rivergate Marina & Shipyard.

"Having visited marinas and shipyards around the world, I understand the high expectations of yacht owners, captains and crew," says Stephen.

"I'm looking forward to using this knowledge to further elevate the experience at Rivergate for customers and contribute to the company's growth. I'm excited to give back to an industry and community that have given me so much."
