Just under three weeks until Bass SC once again rolls up the shutters and welcomes in a new spring, with club racing commencing with the Starters Prize on Sunday 23rd March.
A few weeks later, members will be staying onsite for the first camping weekend of the year. The Easter weekend also welcomes the Mirror class back to Bass, racing Friday to Sunday. Visitors are welcome to camp. See webcollect for NOR and SSI. webcollect.org.uk/bass-sc
The early May bank holiday will also see members camping on site, this time joined by the Catapult class. July and August is set to be all go, with several open meetings. The first weekend in July is the joint Flying Fifteen and GP14 open meeting, sponsored by Impact Marine. The following weekend (12/13 July) is the popular North West Junior Traveller and Tera Northerns.
On Saturday 2nd August, it’s the event of the year, Bass Week 2025. Entry will open on the Tuesday 1st April. Bass week is a nine-day family regatta, with multiple single races, two weekend series and two pursuit races. The action on the water is matched by a busy social schedule including a commodore’s reception, a quiz night, discos, live music and children’s activities. Visitors are welcome to camp on site and are strongly advised to book on 1st April if you plan to attend with a caravan or motorhome. Last years these camping spaces sold out on the first day!
Moving into September, this years Great North Asymmetric Challenge (20/21) is once again sponsored by our friends at Trident. We’ve seen a solid entry over the last few years, with sixty to seventy asymmetric on the start line. Last year’s event was won by Endeavour Champions Olive Grove and Esther Parkhurst. Entry will be open later in the year.
