The inaugural Eastern Asia Offshore Race will start on 29 May 2025, taking competitors on a 350nm journey from Hong Kong to Tainan.
The Eastern Asia Offshore Race is organised by the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, with the cooperation of Argo Yacht Club in Tainan, on the southern coast of Chinese Taipei, providing competitors with a new and exciting offshore race destination.
The Club has a long sporting history of organising races and regattas both locally and offshore. In the 1990s, after 30 years of racing to the Philippines, the Club organised offshore races to new destinations including Vietnam, Hainan, and an offshore race to Kaohsiung in 2011 and 2012.
With the race starting in May, the fleet will be able to make the most of the south-westerly monsoon, which should provide a fast downwind passage. The race is 350nm and will take approximately two to three days. Participating yachts can also take advantage of joining the Taiwan Ryukyu Regatta, another popular offshore race in the region that will start on 8 June.
The start line will be in front of Kellett Island Clubhouse on 29 May, with the start signal sounding at 1120hrs.
