Two of the ten Olympic classes that will compete for the 54th edition of the Trofeo Princesa Sofia Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels will have Es Portixol as their base of operations, which debuts as the new venue for the Mallorcan Olympic sailing classic.

The Sofia includes one more piece to its extensive logistical puzzle in the Bay of Palma. The 54th edition of the Mallorcan Olympic sailing classic will bring a new base of operations to facilitate the experience of sailors and organization. A new operations center in Es Portixol, between Can Pastilla and Palma, will host for the first time the nearly 200 teams that have confirmed their participation in iQFOiL Men and iQFOiL Women categories.

"It's a new space and we have to provide it with all the necessary resources and infrastructure for the participants to be comfortable and to be able to host the venue," explains Manu Fraga, manager of the Real Club Náutico de Palma. "It needs an area for measurement, regatta office, bathrooms, space for stowage of all the material, etc... And to provide it with pontoons at sea to house the inflatable boats of all the technicians and facilitate the departure to the race course. To have it ready in time and form requires the effort of many people and the support of several institutions, but we are convinced that it will add value to the event".

This new addition means that the distribution of the ten Olympic sailing categories that will compete for the 54 Trofeo Princesa Sofia Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels will take place for the first time among four venues: at Club Nàutic S'Arenal the 470 Mixed, 49er, 49er FX and Nacra 17 will be based; at Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, the ILCA 6 and ILCA 7; at Playa de Palma (Balneario 14), the men's Formula Kite and women's Formula Kite; and at the new base of Es Portixol, the men's iQFOiL and women's iQFOiL.

"It is a new bet, we are relieving the entire sea area, both in Can Pastilla and Arenal, where there was a lot of concentration of teams and boats. The Sofia wants to grow and we need the athletes to be comfortable. I think it is a venue that is here to stay".

The 54 Trofeo S.A.R. Princesa Sofia Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels is held under the joint organization of the Club Nàutic S'Arenal, the Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, the Real Club Náutico de Palma, the Real Federación Española de Vela and the Federación Balear de Vela, with the support of World Sailing, and is co-financed with the fund of the Sustainable Tourism Tax of the Govern de les Illes Balears.

The 54 Trofeo Princesa Sofia Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels is part of the Sailing Grand Slam 2025 along with the Semaine Olympique Française, the Dutch Water Week, the Kieler Woche and the Long Beach Olympic Classes Regatta.
