Starcross Yacht Club, on the River Exe in Devon, has been announced as one of the first clubs in the country to be awarded the new British Sailing Pathway Club status.
With an already thriving junior section which has more than 50 young people sailing regularly, this award recognises the club's achievements, but more importantly provides very welcome support to help take race coaching to the next level.
Part of the RYA's Pathway Review of junior and youth sailing, the Pathway Club initiative aims to develop and support race coaching at local clubs.
Reputed to be one of the oldest Yacht Clubs in the country, founded over 250 years ago, Starcross is a friendly volunteer-run club in Devon, with strong fleets of RS Teras and Toppers, as well as growing Feva and ILCAs. The club is also an RYA Recognised Training Centre and runs Friday evening training sessions, a full program of junior and youth race training, friendly and competitive club racing - and lots more.
