Henri-Lloyd's Dynamic Range reveals a new and revolutionary approach to marine apparel

The jury in the prestigious DAME Awards recognised the breakthrough achieved by Henri-Lloyd with the use of technology and ergonomics in the Dynamic Range of sailing apparel. Now it is available to buy, with a complete range from Dynamic Dri Fast Tees, Dynamic deck shorts, and Dynamic Lite Jacket to the ultimate in outer wear, including a choice of Dynamic smock top, Dynamic dry top, Dynamic salopettes and Dynamic Jacket.
Representing a breakthrough in the use of technology and ergonomics, this unique collection of professional-grade clothing offers revolutionary stretch and flexibility, whilst still providing the highest levels of waterproofness and breathability. "Whilst designed to meet the needs of professional-grade sailors, Dynamic is the perfect choice for everyone - whether competitive racing or cruising in a motorboat, and even as everyday wear, doing sports, just being warm, dry and comfortable, whatever the conditions," says Henri-Lloyd CEO Knut Frostad.
To create the Dynamic Range, Matteo Alfieri, Henri Lloyd's Head of Experimental Design drew inspiration from other sports, such as running and cycling, studying the ergonomics and fabric technology used. A worldwide search reviewed over 100 fabrics, resulting in collaboration with a Japanese mill and the revolutionary Dynamic Range 4-way stretch fabric was created. Taking over 24 months to design and develop, Henri-Lloyd undertook extensive product testing of its prototype products with world-class sailors from SailGP, TP52 and other programs. The in-house Product Development team analysed and reviewed the sailors' use and movements when wearing Dynamic clothing, and incorporated the sailors' feedback into the final product designs.
The whole Dynamic range is designed, shaped and cut for both men and women - all of which can be interchanged to suit weather conditions and racing requirements - resulting in a comprehensive yet lightweight kit bag. Dynamic fabric used for outer wear is 100% waterproof, windproof and breathable: +20k mm waterproof rating and +20k g/m2 /24hr breathability.
The Dynamic Jacket weighs just 650 gsm, enhancing agility and reducing fatigue during long races and extended wear. It has a full length YKK Aquaguard waterproof zip, with high grip triangular zip pullers designed in a Henri-Lloyd DNA shape, specially for the Dynamic Range. A unique feature in this jacket is Henri-Lloyd's Breeze Clip, which enables the jacket to be unzipped for ventilation, and prevents the sides of the jacket flapping in the wind. Four-way panel stretch, back hanger, and adjustable orthopaedic elastic wrist adjustors feature alongside the two-way adjustable and detachable hood, which has a drainage channel and secure adjusting and fastening system designed to prevent snagging whilst ensuring a secure fit with a glued peak. The jacket and hood feature reflective safety strips, repeated above the jacket pockets and on the sleeve. The Dynamic jacket comes in ice, black and navy in men's sizing from S to 3XL, and in women's sizes from XS to 2XL and retails at £440.
The Dynamic Lite Jacket is 100% waterproof to 20K, 100% windproof and extremely breathable (rated at +20K G/M2 /24HR). Made from the unique Dynamic stretch and flex fabric - which is 100% recycled polyamide with PFOA-free membranes and PFC-free DWR coatings, it features 4-way panel stretch for freedom of movement. This feature-rich jacket includes a cropped storm flap with magnet fastening closure, adjustable hood with special glued peak design for snug fit, adjustable wrist straps and YKK Aquaguard zip with non-corrosive waterproof zip puller. Reflective transfers on the jacket increase visibility at night and in low light conditions. The back of the jacket features a super strong tear-resistant H-shaped back hanger with 100N holding strength to ASTM PS 79 test standard (American Society for Testing and Materials). The Dynamic Lite Jacket is available in black, ice and navy, and in sizes XS to 3XL and retails at £225.
The Dynamic Salopette, available in Men's and Women's sizing, retail at £395 and feature a Lycra top to allow for comfort and stretch. The adjustable flex strap at the shoulder is made using orthopaedic elastic, to reduce blood circulation issues and ensure maximum movement, and enables the user to ensure a snug fit with the Dynamic stretch and flex fabric. The salopettes feature a full length YKK Aquaguard zip with non-corrosive waterproof zip puller, with waterproof adjustable stretch ankle cuffs with flex strap and snag resistant Velcro to create a close fit around the ankle. The salopettes feature a deep zip pocket on the leg to store bulky items.
EVA cushioning has been built-in on the knee, for high comfort when kneeling without compromising the aesthetic of the salopettes, and removing the need for additional external bulky knee protectors. The knee patches are reinforced with stretch Cordura which does not restrict the performance of the main fabric, whilst also adding extra reinforcement and durability to high impact areas. For safety the salopettes have reflective transfers, and the tear resistant back hanger. Available in women's size S-XL and men's S-2XL in ice, black and navy.
The Dynamic Smock is a pull over, fully waterproof and breathable top, with 4-way stretch across the back for ease of movement, and a fully adjustable stretch laminated collar for comfort and waterproof protection. It features two brush lined side hand pockets with reflective strips. There are adjustable straps around the wrists and an adjustable neoprene waist with non-slip material ensuring the smock doesn't ride up. The Dynamic smock retails at £375 and is available in unisex sizes from XS to 3XL in ice, black and navy.
The Dynamic Dry Top features a neoprene neck seal, to ensure a 100% waterproof, windproof and breathable top - ideal for foredeck or keelboat and dinghy sailing. The Dry Top has all the same features as the smock top, with two hand pockets, adjustable waist and cuffs, and back hangar. The Dry Top costs £390 and comes in unisex sizing XS to 3XL.
The Dynamic Dri Fast short sleeve tee features an ergonomic cut with panel design using stretch fabric. The fabric has built-in UV50 filter for full protection in the sun and the easy care, quick dry, crease free fabric is extremely breathable with antimicrobial polygene anti-odour technology for prolonged freshness. The Dynamic short sleeve Tee comes in seven colours - white, ice, navy, cygnet blue, Caribbean sea, red and titanium - in sizes from S to 2XL, and retails at £64.
The Dynamic Dri Fast short sleeve tee is also available for Women with two additional colours - Caribbean blue and black - and comes in sizes XS to 2XL, also retailing at £64.
There is also a Dynamic Dri Fast long sleeve tee for men and women, available in four colours - cygnet blue, navy blue, white and ice - in sizes S to 2XL and retailing at £69.
For both Men and Women, there is the Dynamic deck short. Crafted from durable double weave stretch recycled fabric, these unlined breathable DWR shorts are extremely comfortable to wear, thanks to the ergonomic design and stretch fabric. To ensure a snug fit, there are velcro straps to adjust the fit around the waist. A hard-wearing cordura seat - made from the same colour as the shorts - protects the shorts against snags and chaffing. Waterproof zips protect the two hand pockets and there is an additional secure side pocket on the leg.
The Dynamic deck shorts come in a choice of colours - navy, black and titanium - and in Men's sizes S-3XL and in Women's sizes XS-2XL and retail at £135.
Henri-Lloyd has designed Dynamic to minimise its environmental impact using 100% recycled polyamide fabrics made with yarn certified by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), PFOA-free membrane, PFC-free double DWR coatings and all Dynamic Range fabric can be recycled at the end of its life cycle. In order to increase the sustainability rating on the fabric, the black mesh 20D has also been made from 100% recycled polyamide material.
