Mens CT32 Seeding Round: Roediger Rises, Champions Collide, The New Wave Challenges Legacy
The Champions Round of 32 is absolutely stacked, and Heat 1 is where it all begins — with a long-awaited moment of destiny.
HEAT 1: Bernd Roediger's Moment of Truth
* Bernd Roediger (HAW)
* Miguel Chapuis (ESP, Gran Canaria)
* Federico Morisio (ITA)
* Moritz Mauch (GER)
Bernd Roediger, the soulful Hawaiian who first turned heads as the youngest ever winner of the Aloha Classic, enters Chile for the first time as the #1 seed on the World Rolling Wave Rankings. A lifelong student of the ocean, taught by his windsurfing father on Maui, Bernd has broken through the label of "Hawaiian specialist" with global wins in Cape Verde (2023), Japan (2024), and most recently Puerto Rico (2025). Now, he leads the charge into one of the most high-stakes events of the year — and it starts with a heavyweight battle against Spain's Gran Canaria rising star Miguel Chapuis, Italy's passionate powerhouse Federico Morisio, and German style master Moritz Mauch who fought his way in from the Challenger rounds yesterday.
"It's taken a lifetime to get here," Roediger said.
Other key men's heats to watch:
Heat 2: Philip Köster, the 5x world champion returns to form against young Gran Canaria local Marino Gil, style master Arthur Arutkin, and local Chilean ripper Vicente Gonzalez.
Heat 5: 2024 Chile champion Camille Juban who is competing with a broken toe and expected to struggle with the pain, former world champion Thomas Traversa, and Jules Denel in a full French powerhouse throwdown.
Heat 6: Gran Canaria's own Liam Dunkerbeck, the heir to greatness, faces Spain's Marc Paré Rico in a generational clash.
Heat 8: 4 x wave world champion Marcilio Browne from Brazil, secured a 4 star victory in the early season in Japan and is about to open his 5 star title defense against a stacked heat featuring Takuma Sugi, Dieter van der Eyken and Gran Canaria legend coming back from injury Alessio Stillrich who fought his way through the challenger rounds to reclaim his place amongst the worlds best.
Women's CT16 Seeding Round: Legends Return, Young Guns Fire, and Local Heroes Rise
Chile's wild Pacific coast is no stranger to history, and the women's bracket could deliver its own defining chapter with one of the deepest, most international fields ever assembled.
Heat 1: The 25x Champion Leads the Charge
Sarah-Quita Offringa (ARU)
Maria Andres (ESP)
Maria Behrens (GER)
Sybille Bode (GER)
Sarah-Quita Offringa, now a 25-time world champion, arrives in Matanzas with the poise of a legend and the fire of a rookie. But she's facing a fierce test: Spain's Maria Andres brings years of experience, while Maria Behrens and Sybille Bode are fast-climbing German chargers with everything to gain and nothing to lose.
Other standout women's heats:
Heat 2: Coco Foveau (FRA) vs very young new wave hero Sol Degrieck (BEL) and tour legend Justyna Sniady (POL) in a wide-open field.
Heat 3: Next generation legend Alexia Kiefer Quintana (GER) up against Pauline Katz (SWZ), Lisa Wermeister (FRA Guadeloupe), and young Sarah Kenyon (AUS WA).
Heat 4: World #2 Lina Erpenstein (GER), Jane Seman (AUS), and Maria Morales Navarro (ESP Tenerife) face off in a heat packed with power and progression.
Matanzas: The Perfect Stage for Global Wave Riding Excellence
With its long, wrapping left-hand walls and powerful Pacific energy, Matanzas Point is one of the most perfect and demanding wave riding venues in the world. And with mast-high swell now confirmed in the forecast, the conditions are aligning for a legendary kickoff.
This is not just the start of a season — it's a global showcase of windsurfing's next era, broadcast live to fans across the planet.
