Ullswater Yacht Club is delighted to announce both its open event calendar and Magic Marine's continued sponsorship and support for 2025.
The calendar kicks off with the Magic Marine Daffodil Regatta on 26th / 27th of April, which includes the RS200 Spring Championships and Musto Skiff, OK, Finn, 29er and VX One circuit events as well as all class handicap fleets. This year the Daffodil Regatta is also the inaugural event for in the Sailjuice Challenge 2025. Entries and bookings for tent and motorhome camping at the Club can be made with Sailracer or via the link on the Club's website.
The Tempest Nationals follow in May, then in June and in conjunction with the North East and Yorkshire Youth Sailing Association, the Club is excited to host the North Region Youth and Junior Championships. This promises to be the region's premier youth event in 2025.
The first weekend in July sees the 63rd running of the Lord Birkett Memorial Trophy. Described as "An absolute classic" by Yachts and Yachting in 2023, "The Birkett" continues to grow in stature and popularity. This has been due to the unique racing experience, scenery which grows ever more spectacular towards the island turning point of the two races, a party atmosphere with on-site entertainment on the Friday and Saturday evenings, and extended availability of camping for tents and motorhomes at the Club. While recent years have seen entries of over 200 boats there is an entry limit and in April almost 70 entries have already been received. More information is available at the Birkett Trophy's dedicated website.
For those who might want to enjoy combining low key racing or leisure sailing with a family holiday, the Club's popular Holiday Week (11th-15th August) is open to visitors from other sailing clubs and offers participants on-site camping for tents and motorhomes. This year's Holiday Week is bracketed at weekends either side, by the VX One Nationals and Snipe National Championships.
In September, the Club will host a Lake and Borders ILCA Grand Prix and the Ullswater Regatta, an all class handicap event where races alternate between different course layouts to give boats of all kinds an opportunity to race to handicap. The season ends with a Winter Series running on Sundays from late October to early December, which is open to visitors.
More information and links to these events can be found at UllswaterYachtClub.org.
