World Sailing has welcomed the International Olympic Committee's announcement of athlete quotas, sports and events for the 2028 Olympics, due to be held in Los Angeles.
Unfortunately World Sailing's release was long on PR but short on substance, and omitted to state the sailor numbers and events - which was provided in the release by the IOC.
The numbers are unchanged from Marseille which were 330 sailors being 165 men and 165 women—competing across ten events. These events included four men's, four women's, and two mixed-gender categories.
The ten Events are:
Single gender:
- Windsurfing
- Dinghy
- Skiff
- Kite
Mixed Gender
- Mixed Multihull
- Mixed Dinghy
The Equipment (classes) to be used in each event has not been confirmed.
