Itama's unmistakeable appeal meets a new dimension of freedom: Here is the new Itama 54

by Ferretti Group 18 Apr 14:31 BST

Itama unveils the Itama 54 project, a new model that expands the brand's range by making a return to the 50 to 59-foot open cruiser runabout segment.

This new model, which retains the brand's iconic style and Italian elegance, is inspired by a design study aimed at offering greater comfort in the living areas when under way and more space.

The project, presented this year at BOOT Düsseldorf, is the result of collaboration between the Ferretti Group Product Strategy Committee led by Piero Ferrari and the Group's Engineering Department. The interior design and exterior styling are by Tommaso De Luca.

Itama 54, 16.44 metres long and with a beam of 4.73 metres, stays true to the pared-down style that gives all the brand's models their status as icons, featuring aesthetic and functional innovations that offer a new dimension of freedom both on board and at sea.

The exterior design reinterprets the brand's distinctive lines. Among the innovative features of this model is the large forward sun pad perfectly built into the deck, with a slightly recessed central section that creates a small step, adding continuity to the boat's overall exterior design. Unlike previous models, the access to the bow area is not positioned at the center of the windscreen but on the starboard side—a solution that makes the ascent more convenient and allows the hatch to remain open while still ensuring access both to the bow area and below deck. Another distinctive feature of this model is the design of the transom—the aft-most section of the stern—angled outward, which lends an elegant dynamism to the exterior lines and makes it possible to create a very spacious area (1,800 litres) beneath the sun pad, ideal for storing water toys.

The layout of the decks has been designed to ensure the ultimate in on-board comfort. The aft section of the main deck is almost entirely occupied by a large sun pad, one of the brand's signature features, with a passageway on the port side for access to the boat. A revolutionary feature of Itama 54 is the dual cockpit layout of the exterior living space, which for the first time offers two areas focused exclusively on relaxation and furnished with two C-shaped sofas accommodating up to 10 people. The classic cockpit aft is served by a table that can be fitted with an up-down mechanism to switch between relaxation and dining layouts. The real innovation is the second cockpit behind the windscreen, offering guests an area sheltered from the wind and spray when cruising. The two sofas are separated by a convenient icebox to keep cool beverages within easy reach. The two cockpits are served by a large, functional bar unit on the port side. The helm station is on the same side of the boat, with a seat designed for maximum comfort and an innovative floating dashboard.

The lower deck contains two cabins, two bathrooms, a galley and a dinette. The spacious master cabin forward contains a central bed with two large storage drawers in the base and two wardrobes. The guest cabin is in the midship section and can be furnished with a queen-size bed or bunk beds. Next to the fully appointed galley is a dinette with a sofa and a folding table (optional).

The exterior styling is reprised in the interiors by the focus on simplicity and functionality. The materials chosen for the decor are wood, leather and fabric, giving the boat a welcoming and elegant feel without sacrificing practicality. Itama 54 also features innovative side glazing, which for the first time runs the entire length of the hull, giving the boat an eye-catching, modern silhouette.

Itama 54 is powered by MAN's latest generation i6 line: a pair of MAN i6-730 engines (730 HP) in the standard version for a top speed of 33 knots and a cruising speed of 28 knots, and a pair of MAN i6-850 engines (850 HP) in the optional version for a maximum speed of 37 knots and a cruising speed of 33 knots (preliminary data).
